we have a HP4108gl switch. As i have a bit more time on my hands i thought i would look at the configurations of the key hardware devices. I have noticed that some ports are set to enable flow control and some not

What are the benefits of flow control and is it worth enabling or not.

cheers

Enable!

Flow control manages the rate that information is sent between two devices, if one device starts sending packets at a rate the reciveing device can't handle due to load or whatever then you'll start getting network congestion.

I'm in the process of upgrading all our main switchs to HP Procurve stuff, 2650's and a 5400zl do i want to turn flow control on all ports or just certain ones?
