restrict pupils printing

[chrbb]

Hi been given some money to spend! one thing I'd like is a printer managment software package, but I've searched the internet and can't find what I want. - I would like to restrict some users to the extent that they can't print until a teacher gives them permission, like a password sort of thing (I know this should happen anyway in a junior school, but it doesn't and the rubbish we get printed is unbelieveable.)

I also would like to restrict printing of webpages. Any ideas?

Depends what you're running on. With more recent MS servers - its possible to give the teachers rights to the printers so that they can be paused and the print jobs spooled and then the teacher can allow or delete each one (the price is right!).

We use Pcounter for limiting and reporting printing - its pretty good.

We use Print Manager Plus - another good one

Can restricy in a few way (account balance, pages, document title, document size, colour, etc)

We use pcounter and have drastically reduced waste.

The software also has features such as automatically deleting repeated jobs (so when the same job is sent to the printer it is automatically deleted)

Simpy to use and gets user accounts from active directory.
