Sigh, always blame the technology.....

Perhaps if the school was properly addressing e-safety then this kind of thing wouldn't happen, as for the mother moaning, hmm what was your child doing typing "sex" into google? Have you educated your child before signing the Internet Agreement sent out by your school? Did she compromise the agreement? I think so....

LNN staff should be manually reviewing all the pages of the internet daily to exclude any pages containing the kind of imagery you can see on the High Street or in the tabloids. What possible reason can they have not to?

ICT is a compulsory subject so shouldn't primary schools teach, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc that are transferrable skills to the real world, rather than surfing the net.

 

This comment sums up what people think of IT:rolleyes: Learning how to use Office is NOT IT, and learning how to surf the web safely is not a good thing then? I remember when my nephew started using computers in school and my sister had concerns about him using the internet there. I told her to educate him how to use things properly and what things you shouldn't be clicking on and why.

 

Yes, this shouldn't have happened, but yet again its technology (and those supporting it) who are to blame and not anyone who should have been supervising (or educating)the child.

 

And working as we do with children who actively search for such things, how come it all comes down to "they shouldn't be able to access it" and ignore "they shouldn't have been searching for it"?

 

Although if she found the pictures through amazon, I can see that it will soon be blocked...
