Had a very nice looking quote on some ThinkCentre M58's to be used for admin PCs. Core2Duo E7400, 19" monitor and tilt \ swivel stand for around 500 a unit. Currently the M58 is on the PC Pro A-list for business PCs... anyone had any experiences with em good or bad?

I have used Lenovo A56/7/8 for some years and they are all well built and easy to maintain.

The support is based in Scotland so depending on how Glaswegian the operator is it can be as tiresome as a Mumbai call centre;)

Joking apart, with all of the corporate brands the warranty is the real winner.

The Lenovo's seem to have suffered more than some vendors with Capacitor failures.

I had 6 machines all go down with "Fat Cap Syndrome" thats the official Lenovo terminology.

The machines were all just 3 months out of a 12 Month warranty.

I had to get very annoyed with a few people before a nice man from Latvia emailed me and arranged for an engineer to come and replace all of the motherboards FOC!

Since then I have had two more fail under warranty with the same fault.

Now don't let that put you off because I have seen the same fault on a dozen Dells, Viglens, HP's and several laptops.

I think because the Lenovos are probably closer to the source of the dodgy capacitor problem they seem to have a higher incident rate of it.

If you are going to invest in "Premium Hardware" just make sure you get the 3yr warranty option thrown in.

Just taken a punt and ordered 68 of the M58 SFF, never considered Levono desktops before but seeing how the HP's seem to be going up in price and i can get exctually the same spec as a DC7900 HP in what looks like a better case with a 3 year warrenty for less money its a no brainer.

Science are looking at the M58 USFF with the bracket to mount it to the screen, supposed to be sent a sample this week, so will let you know what its like.

We have about 30 IBM (pre-Lenovo) and 30 Lenovo desktops. Anecdotal evidence shows that you can allow a roofs worth of water to flood over them while they're powered on and they still work after air drying. For this reason alone they're my choice of desktop for our more hazardous environments.

Sounds good so far :D

Tallwood_6 I'd be very interested to see how the bracket fares as that's what we'd be ordering as well...

Funnily enough we have 30 A58 SFF in a classroom and twice when its belted it down with rain this one PC by a window has got soaked, but it has been fine.
