ChrisH Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 We have the basic package that came from the government scheme. The Sahara projector is very tempermental and often doesnt come on properly unless you drain the power. Anyone had anyhting similar?
Dos_Box Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Not yet! Is it on just the one or with several? I work with the people running the scheme and will pass this on when they get back in a few weeks.
Ric_ Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I've never liked Sahara projectors - expensive to maintain and rather temperamental. I wasn't best pleased when Lancs forced them on us.
ChrisH Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 It's just the one of the two we have. It's easy to sort but it's a bit high to be pulling the power out and knocking the projector everytime it needs to be turned on.
drjturner Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I did a visit to a school in Burnley to have a look at a strange software issue and the teacher who's room had a sahara mentioned it was temperemental on powering up. I also noticed yellow was not very good but that could be something do to with the laptop or dlp processing. Regards Dan Turner Promethean Ltd
Sirbendy Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 ROFL! Is it an S2100 by any chance? We have several. Bag of shite. I sometimes have 8-9 tries to fire them up...and a lot of the time, yes it involves removing power, counting to 10 and trying to catch it unawares. We've installed ground level switches for them to make this easier.. I've spoken to Sahara-they think ballast failure. Loadsa dosh. But..since I have the "magic touch", they usually work for me. I also have a rarely used NEC VT440 that does the same trick. Our VT560s are solid as rock. However, our new Hitachi EDX-4000s are prove to spontaneous overheats needing a total power off/on cycle to recover.
ChrisH Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 This reminds me im still chasing the company to come sort this out :x :x :x :x
drjturner Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Are these projectors part of the Becta deal. You should get a 24hour swap out under becta spec if there is a fault. If not complain to Becta.
