Hi All, I'm a contractor at HP Boise and can affect a fix for this if a problem still exists. The 'beta FW' being sent was created in 2009 (FW Ver. 20090925). It's contents were long ago rolled in to a 20101025 FW drop. Downgrading FW to the 'beta FW' should not fix anything, instead, it would remove a long list of of subsequent fixes. If someone has proof that downgrading to the 2009 Beta FW fixed their issue please reply with details. Thank You. Keep in mind, hundreds of thousands of these units have been sold world wide. More than likely, specific network environments and their settings are causing the P2055 issues. Even so, I would like to understand these details to ensure a FW fix on the P2055 is not the answer.

It's my understanding that this is caused by the network setup. I have 4 of these printers and they all work flawlessly. They are attached manually to each computer though, so no scripting involved. Perhaps the issue is in the way they are networked.

I have several P2055dn's that go into a "Printing" mode on the printer and will not respond without power cycle. They are running FW 20101025. We have CM2320nf MFP printers at the same locations that don't have this problem.

As per mmuthart's post, has anyone tried the latest firmware to see if this fixes the problem?

We have been having similar problems (not quite sure if its exactly the same as in this thread). I updated the firmware to whatever was listed on hp.com this afternoon, but that didn't help. It might not have been the one you just posted.

What did seem to make it work was to delete the port on the server, and add it again. After that I installed the latest universal driver for this printer. I now need to find the right combination of drivers and settings that makes it work with windows 7, not just windows xp.

HP have released a new firmware update for the P2055DN, but it looks like they haven't got round to updating their site. This one is dated 31/01/2012.

today one of the printers is going offline again. I don't get it, what's the problem with these printers? two of them never had any problems and two are insanely going offline every few days.

Is there a link to the glorious beta firmware? I'll try it.

Hi,

Had this problem 16 months ago...it seemed to be a network issue. Ever since I created a dedicated printer vlan I have had no issue....Has anyone else checked this????

We have VLANs [but no dedicated printer VLAN. While the printers do sometimes go offline they seem to recover by themselves after a short delay [most of the time]

I have not requested the beta firmware as it has not been a major problem for us [just an irritation]

HTH.

I have several customers with this model printer and one in particular is asking for this firmware. Please forward me a link so I may download it.

Thanks!

Thanks Torrevez! Unfortunately it sounds like the problem that this particular person is having may be more related to the print server itself but I'm still going to have the load it up it can't hurt they can always roll back to the latest general release.

Ive just started having problems with 21 of these units now. They have both reset their mac address to 000000000000.

Ive downloaded the latest firmware for the printer from HP website and when it trys to update the printer gives an error and then goes back to the ready screen. The firmware update says its completed successfully but it hasnt.

Im doing it via USB from my win7x64 machine.

I have about 12 of there at my School and most of them display the same symptoms as everyone else here, a quick switch off and on again gets them printing. They will print fine all day long then the following morning will have locked up and need to be restarted! very annoying

I would love to try the replacement firmware, Zerohour would it be possible to get the firmware update link?

Many Thanks!
