Problem with user My Documents folders

Hi all,

 

Having a bit of a problem with a couple of users home folders. Every now and again they are unable to save to their My Documents. Looking in the permissions for the folder they have a Deny Write Data applied. I delete this and yet a few weeks later it reappears. It only happens on 4 accounts out of over 150 - what am I missing? Fairly new to all this so it has me baffled. Any suggestions?

Check the parent folders to see if the rights are coming from there (if inherit permissions is on)

 

Only give users modify permissions to prevent them changing their folder permissions.

 

Enable auditing to see when their permissions are being edited.

The deny permission will definitely be the source of the problem. Using Autoshare, I setup both a domain administrator and the user themselves with Full Control access rights, so it's impossible for anyone else to change permissions.

 

I would recommend manually removing the share, then re-creating the share, set Sharing and Security permissions, then click 'Advanced' and tick 'Replace permission entries on all child objects...' then click Apply.
