Suppress Printer Driver Messages

Hi Guys,

 

I've got a rather archaic Printer that I have managed to get set up on my Windows server and I'm using PushPrinterConnections.exe and GP to deliver this across my Network.

 

However the driver being delivered is moaning that the end users do not have admin rights (and they never will). Whilst this is only really an inconvieniece it affects all staff members every time they log on.

 

Proc Explorer tells me that the message is being delivered by the CAPM4STK.DLL file. I've tried deleting this file, but that just causes an error message.

 

I've tried to deny the print driver dll the right to run, given access permissions over the driver folder etc.

 

Either way, it still prints to the server.

 

Does anyone know how to surpress DLL error messages?

 

Other details:

 

Printer is a Canon IR1530 with an Axis 1650 Print Server

Printer Driver is the latest Version avaiable.

Have you tried deploying the actual printer drivers using the computer/startup script rather than the user login scripts?

 

That might resolve the necessary permissions for installation and stop the whinging messages re: admin rights.

 

... or I could have completely the wrong end of a red hot stick

Thanks for the advice, but it still doesn't work!. It still pop's up moaning about not having administrator rights when a user logs in. I'm not sure how it's coming to this conclusion,

 

I've given all users rights over the files involved, The user should already have rights to edit HKEY Current User??.

 

I would really like this to work on a per user rather than per machine basis, even though the security permissions on the Print server would deny students the right to print they would still be able to see the printer, and I'd rather they didn't (perhaps I'm just paranoid!).

 

Apart from the 4 hours i've spent on this we could have bought a really nice printer with the wages they have spent on me!

Does it work for admin level users ? As usually I expect people to have locked down driver install, or is this what the PushPrinterConnections.exe is supposed to do ?
