wireless setup

Hi

 

we have 4 netgear wireless access point in place already. we bought a new Brlkin N1 wireless router. it seem to be bit tricky when comming to set it up( this is my first set up). i did put the CD and went to the advanced settings. try to change the IP address for ruter 192.168.207 ( rest of the in the order as 203,204,205 ... wtc.) after i changer i coudnt connect to the ruter by typing the ip. it said i manually have to change the browser setting. i did put that in safe site. but no luk.

do i have to disable the DHCP client function? ( other ruters has been disabled which is in place)

 

when i try to set it act as a access point its not blinking the wireless light. but its broadcasting the SSID but coudnt connect?

 

what i am doing wrong here? please help.

That IP address doesn't look right to me, needs to be four parts. Check the IP address.

I would imagine that you server allocates IP addresses so you should be able to disable this function.

I think the best option here is to do a hardware reset and give it another try.

u mean re set the ruter????

Yes. There should be a reset button somewhere on the device to restore it back to manufacturers settings. You can probably do away with the CD and configure it manually through the web interface, just connect to the router by ethernet and navigate to the management page.

Just a thought. try using a standalone station/laptop to access and set up the router first. Crossover cable or switch and make mini lan. Then no worries about conflicting DHCP from server or other routers. Set up with out DHCP running on the router and set to accept DHCP from your server, or may be set static at router, or quiz for router mac and then reserve an IP in server DHCP. Whatever -change IP / DHCP as last setting, 'cos as soon as you save/restart you may lose contact with the router until you physically connect back to network (DHCP). Once back on line you should be able to access a control page in IE using the device name http://mynewrouteretc or IP if you have set a static / reserved IP. Hope this helps.
