just a quick query. Has anybody experienced sophos antivirus apparently removing itself from the server despite still having registry entries for it. I have been suspended from the school where i work because the headteacher and an independent computer consultancy company have alleged that i have removed the antivirus software. I am just looking for anyone that has experienced a similar event who is willing to give a statement to support my innocence.

There are several viruses, trojans and pieces of spyware that will do this.

To be honest, even though they differ in description, viruses, trojans and spyware are all merging into one thing, as it seems they all seem to attach themselves nowadays, I remember when there was a spyware panic as it was a "new thing" getting your details, but now, the spyware gets your details, which then uses these to power a virus,it's just getting increasingly difficult in the world of online security.

Anyway, i'm sick of Spyrujan!

It may well have removed itself and failed to re-install the latest updated software version. My machine does that sometimes, it tried to update the latests version of Auto-update and removed it and failed to install it and left it missing and it removed Sophos as well so it is possible I have found.

You've been suspended because they believe you removed some softwar? so what!!! your position at the school is it tech, network manager, teacher, student?

Seems a bit harsh what does your union say?
