Mounting CD ISO in to virtual PC 2007

I have installed some software (wellington square) for a primary school on to a windows 95 virtual pc so they can run it now they have moved to xp. The software has to have the cd in the drive to run, has any one been able to or is it even possible to mount a cd by scripting or other means in to the virtual pc cd drive so when i run different programs from the short cuts it monts the cd automatically?

Are you using MS Virtual PC? Have you thought of using VirtualBox as you can use the VBoxManage program to do that (From outside the VM not sure about inside).

The manual on that page starting at 90 shows the command lines for VBoxManage, basically an EXE for controlling what you can normally do in the virtualbox GUI. Pretty useful for making the VM transparent to the end user as it opens like a program.

Could you track down an old version of DaemonTools and place the ISOs inside the virtual machine? Then you could use the DaemonTools scripting addon to mount the ISO in a virtual drive in the virtual PC(!). I did try something like this a while ago for our science dept but in the end just left them with an old Pentium 2 machine running Windows 95!

Im burning CDs at the mo for a short term fix but will be looking in to it

What we've done with Wellington square is copy the contents into seperate folders on a network drive and set a share on exch of the folders. We then have a little batch scripts that maps a drive letter to the relevant Wellington Square share, runs Wellington Square and then unmaps the drive when it is closed. Works ok.

I thought I had tried mapping a drive to the a network location I may have a different version of the software I wil try again tho just in case as it would save me a load of trouble cheers

Forgot to say, make sure you install from the network location and when you map the drive, you have to map the folder you have copied the cd into so that the drive appears with the files in the same locations as if it was in a cd drive.
