RabbieBurns Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I didnt even know they made them that size but it turns out thats what mine is. Its playing up so Im looking at replacing it. But then I got to thinking about SSD. Can an SSD interface with a regular HD controller OK? Will it just appear as a new disk in the bios and let me format / install to it. Ive only got a 100gb hd at the moment, so wouldnt be looking for any more than that - are SSD still rediculously expensive. And bottom line - would I see any benefit from it in terms of speed, battery life etc?
mac_shinobi Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 not sure about speed, battery life etc but if the hard drive caddy can allow a 2.5" hdd then I would guess it would be a sata drive ( good idea to check the interface type ) They are expensive but if its a new laptop or hard drive I would claim on the warranty / guarantee as obviously that shouldnt happen

Its out of warranty even though I did buy the extended warranty pack - long story ive posted about on here lots. Maybe if I can get a decent job here I might be able to splash out heh.
