GPO not applying fully

I use a gpo to apply IE proxy settings for our pc's.

 

For some reason they have stopped applying correctly.

 

Under internet settings>lan settings the proxy information is there but the "use proxy...." tab is not ticked.

 

I have re-created the gpo, tried enforcing it etc but to no avail.

 

Any ideas welcomed

check that you do not have another GPo with the settings. If you have the settings enabled in the default policy for example you may find that the ie policy in overwritten

Are you sure no other policy overrules your new one ?

Yuu can use the group policy management console (GPMC) "Group Policy Results" option which you can use to find out which policies are winning for the various settings.

run rsop.msc on the client machine. Will flag up any errors with GP.

I'd bet you've got multiple GPOs setting IE policies. These are notoriously unpredictable.

 

 

I had them set in 2 places.

 

But have spent the last hour troubleshooting the proxy settings until I remembered a little gem of info, internet proxy settings only work when set on the Default Domain GPO on server 2003.

 

At least its working again

have you got a gpo that redirects application data if so then this is a known bug that ie branding does not always work when application data si re-directed and you may have to set infor using a logon script with a registry merge
