Rep points scores

Hi,

 

I have a question about Rep scores.

 

Today i have a Rep Power of 66 (woo go me ) Michael has a Rep Power of 63. According to this Michael is higher up than me - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/members/list/?order=DESC&sort=reputation&pp=30

 

How does that work?

I really would love for you to go back to "0" Rep *joke*

 

If you go to your user cpanel page, where you see what points you have i.e. 715

 

It all depends on that, so if Michael has i higher number then you then he will be higher up the rankings.

But surely the score would reflect on the rep power?

Basically

 

It depends on what has been configured (this is where ZH will be able to tell you the actuall answer)

 

Thanks = 5 points

+1 Rep = 1 point

 

So if you get thanked more then +1 rep you will get more points putting you further up the board.

 

or something along them lines anyway.. i dont really care about it tbh

Im just curious as to how this works. Because both rep points and tanks are worth points that contribute to the power. Anyway we will wait until he comes along and explains

Perhaps it's because Michael has accrued his rep in half the number of posts that you've made?

 

Or perhaps its because Michael joined in 2005 -and hence has been a member of edugeek for longer?

 

PS Power looks pretty on the left (and it's fun to hover over to see what phrase comes up), but its actual value doesn't bother me particularly

Not many people do know about it, Zak never knew until i showed him now he is always watching to see who he can over take

It says here:

individual power is a calculation based on the length of time participating in the forums, the number of posts, and your own reputation level.

 

Michael's been a member longer than you Zak... it must have more influence than the number of posts

Well I find it interesting....I made it to the 2nd page, can't be bad.

 

Hmm the person above me has the same rep but I have made x2.5 more posts and joined longer so...logically, my posts are worthless....

 

Still I kinda suspected this for a while
