Cheap printer ink?

Can anyone recommend, from personal experience, a low cost but decent quality supplier of ink cartridges?

 

I've rescued a surplus HP i4200 to use at home which is in good condition but needs ink. I've found sites offering compatibles at around half genuine price but a) is the ink any good and b) are the suppliers trustworthy and do they give good service?

 

Any suggestions will be welcome.

CP do some good compatibles, and unlike alot of the companies you will find on the net, they insure your printer if the ink buggers it up

Yeah CP are probably the recommended suppliers i would say due to the reasons stated above, i personally have never had any problems with the cheaper ink but i know you cant always be sure.

 

I know one thing which is coming common now are the ink bottles but i only see them for Epson printers, not sure if their is one for your model.

We've used both Discount Inkjet cartridges suitable for Epson Canon HP and Lexmark Printers - PrinterInks.com and Concita in the past which have most of the time proved good. Natalie @ Powerplex.co.uk also does some good deals!

Could you check the model name and brand for your printer... I can't find an HP i4200 anywhere but I do know of the Canon iP4200..

Right... If you're up for some suggestions I'd consider getting some empties, flushing them and then refilling them.. Invest in some bulk ink, a "redsetter" to reset the chips and the necessary kit to refill (syringes, sharp needles) and you can pretty much keep your costs to an absolute minimum.

 

If that sounds like a plan I can provide the necessary empties (thanks to a Edugeek member who has supplied me with more than a few) for nought and all but the redsetter (which you can get cheap as chips from ink.co.uk).

 

In terms of "how to refill"... There's lots of different approaches but the one that gets the best results seems to be the Durschtick (or "German") method.. All the info you ever needed is on nifty-stuff.com forums.

 

 

Hope that lot helps... Whatever you do, don't invest in a CIS kit (continuous ink supply) for the iP4200 as they just don't work all that well.. 10+ ip4200's and more besides just hasn't proven fruitful unfortunately.
