Is it possible to add switch to a Windows KB executable update to make it run passively, so it could be run as a start up script? (Pretend WSUS doesn't exist)

Yes, but I don't remember what. Run it with /? to find out. I do this with some key hotfixes and a program of my own to test whether it's already been run for the machine.

Edit: it's /quiet for silent mode and /passive for progress bar only mode. There are plenty of other options too.
