Since the summer we have used active desktop in group policy to have a diffrent desktop for each year and staff members.

Its a simple image file that is applied and they cant change it. However im getting inudated with active desktop recovey issues now that wont recover due to a script error also the icons have a diffrent colour background.

I was gonna steer away from active desktop and just use a reg hack or bginfo which would be great.

However when i turn off active desktop, the kids get the option to RC on pictures and set as desktop. So if i leave if on i suspect i will have my IT rooms covered in home drawn bitmaps.

How do other people do it? Am i missing something in GP or the registry or in BGINFO.

Put me out my misery!

We use BgInfo to great effect..

Coupled with the Group Policie to prevent them changing backgrounds

Not a fan of Active Desktop as its more trouble than its worth...

I have attached a screenshot of how its configured here

Its under User Config>Admin Templates>Desktop

I then apply the BGInfo scripts via a login script

Hope this helps :)

Gatt do you write anything special into your login script or is just run a standard BGinfo configration file timer 0 etc.
