Guest richard_s Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I currently have 2 computers at home both running Vista but I am seriously thinking of taking them both back to XP. Both machines have a pretty reasonable spec, my laptop is a Core 2 Duo T5550 with 4 gig of ram running Vista Home Premium and my desktop is an Athlon 6000+ X2 with 3 gig of ram running Vista Ultimate but at times they feel sluggish and unresponsive and as for file transfers between the 2 I'm not even going to go there...... So I was wondering what your thoughts are on this before I spend this Easter weekend doing some major rebuilding.

Both are running SP1 along with all the latest updates and it hasn't done anything to improve file transfer speeds. I moved 5 gig of files last night off my laptop onto my shared external drive on my desktop machine and when Vista finally finished complaining about me not having permission to do so the actuall transfer took almost 2 hours

We've been testing it quite a bit, I have (7068) as dual-boot on my laptop and work machine. The only problem was detecting a firewire card on install. One bloke in the office has been suing 7000 since release with no crashes. Copy performace is up, well most things are up... server managment pack is available and i'm even going off xp. Time to play with 7077!

I dont think i can say here, but its not hard to find. 7077 is meant to be 7015 RC1. All official keys work and they active properly, so MS isnt exactly going out of their way to stop new versions being tested by the public. Edited April 10, 2009 by Theblacksheep

Midget Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 why is a person with a tux avatar not running linux? I've tried vista and hated it. For business and personnal I still use XP (our CRM ran rubbishly in vista anyway) as well as Ubuntu (about to change over to Mint6 - give it a try)

I do have the right drivers for both of the machines but I find that when running XP the same amount of data takes about 15 mins. @ midget - I run Linux as well but I need to use Windows as well.
