how to enable joomla to be pda/iphone friendly

Hi gang,

 

I've looked at the wiki which has a linkl to another site which has instruction and a link to a mocule for enabling the website to a be viewed nicely on a pda/iphone.

 

the link to download the module appears to have been removed.

 

Is the any other alternatives or has anyone got the module stshed away that I can have.

 

The wife is out tonight so I was thinking about setting this up to night. Any advice/guidence would be much appreciated.

but I don't think its what you were looking for, as it just switches the template if a someones using a iphone/ipod

I backed up using joomlapack, then installed the template and plugin as shown.

 

It then stuck on the mobile template - wouldn't get out, and I uninstalled the effing thing.

 

Then it stayed on it - the Edugeek template isn't working any more - even though the axe_rescheek_blue is still default (and unwritable)

 

I restored the site to the pre-install and it is still showing the mobile thing - I'm stuck with it!

 

Please help!

lol w0000ps, what php version have you got? it could be this...

 

I have PHP 4 and still installed the plug-in. Now my Joomla installation is broken. Help!

 

Go into Joomla installation directory / plugins / system. Open mobile.php with any text editor and replace everything with exactly this:

 

<?php ?>

 

Consider upgrading to PHP 5. Support for PHP 4 has been discontinued since 2007-12-31 by the PHP Group.

I haven't had experiance with joompack... (I backup manualy, so it teachs the inner working of joomla).

 

So don't try this untill someone confirms my thinking

 

I THINK joompack backs up both your database and your files/extentions..

 

thus you MUST clear the database before you can use joompack to restore your site

 

therefore, clearing both the files AND the database, should allow a full restore... obvo don't delete the joompack files....

Joomlapack worked perfectly by the way - real one-touch backup/restore facility - and with Filezilla to upload the files, you can choose to omit the uploading of big powerpoints and vids you know are okay.

 

Ah well, at least I know how to restore the site now!

 

Shall I dare to continue looking for mobile functionality, or shall I wait for people to demand it?

I'd install WAMP on your own machine, then make a backup site on there. That way you can test extentions without it being live.

any help in finding stuff would be nice
