dxkuk Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I have not used SIMS for over 2 years, I need a quick refresher of the system does anyone know where I can go? i am based in luton your help will be highly appreciated.
Edu-IT Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Have you tried the SIMS guides or reference sheets? Quick reference sheets - Capita Children's Services The instruction guides are stored as PDF files in a folder somewhere, I can't remember the exact location. If you've got access to SupportNet then you may find some information there too. http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newlogin/login.asp
kmount Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 What kind of help are you looking for? PDFs etc, or an actual course?
azadsani Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 If you are using sims then you have documentation panel on let hand side on sims home page, it has all the information you need try getting started to begin with I hope this helps
dxkuk Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 I don't currently have access to SIMS, the help I urgently need is where can I access DCSF statutory requirements? Kim Mount An actual course could be handy but they cost a lot and I only need a refresher so as to be able to access DCSF statutory requirements.
matt40k Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Capita courses are generally in the thousands, ask your LEA should be round the £100 mark, depending what it is. Sounds like you want the School Census, the other big one is the Workforce Census, which links into Personnel (P7). DCSF statutory requirements is still a wide range. For example, you must record AM\PM marks - Attendance. Really need a list of bits you want to do. Are you going to be teaching? Maintaining SIMS (technical)? Will you be doing data based work?
Benji1 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 If your after stat requirements your best bet is teachernet. Teachernet, New IM
dxkuk Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 matt40k I will be doing database work, Benji1 Information is very helpful thank you Another question where in the SIMS system is this data recorded and subsequently extracted to
matt40k Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 SIMS .net uses MSSQL to store the data. Data is inputted via the SIMS client. There are a number of routines that also get data in and out. Many out. Generally most companies\schools use the report engine. LEAs have B2B DCSF has XSL files that Capita use to create reports within SIMS that school then submits via the COLLECT website (or submit to the LEA who then upload to COLLECT). Also there is the CTF routine that schools export student details when they leave the school for the new school. This is then uploaded (generally) to the S2S website.
