case with thumb screws

I have just had some Fujitsu computers come in and they have thumb screws and not proper ones...

 

It used to be the case that (in bucks at lease) a computer in a classroom had to have proper screws or something preventing it from being opened by had without tools. Is that the case nationally or at least in Norfolk? If so I need some padlocks quick!

I've not heard that before and it's a little difficult bearing in mind most modern desktop PCs come with thumb screws. You can (usually) still tighten thumb screws using a screwdriver which should stop most people.

 

So long as the PCs are facing the right way and cables tidied as best as possible I think there's a little more you can do. Pupils should always be supervised anyway.

I'm pretty sure (taking off the case off some HPs) the screws are/were slightly smaller than usual.

Cable tie the slot for the pad lock.

Padlocks will give you more security than cable ties (might not be necessary - depends on how enterprising your kids are!)

 

Hills components do a variety of padlocks - eg these are about £2 each and are keyed alike (so you don't have to worry about hundreds of keys!)
