Can anyone recommend any companys to design and create a website for a senior school

Have you thought at maybe looking at the EduJoomla Package?

It's pretty straight forward, and you wouldn't have to do too much to it just add the content. save you a few hundred pounds.

Our department has a graphic designer who does stuff for the staff most of the time but they sometimes do websites and such for other schools. Send me a pm with some sort of spec and I'll give you our appropriate contact details.

It's worth talking to Brightcode - they have a lot of experience in working with websites for education (and business and charities - the Keep Your Eye on the Ball website was produced by them.)

You can use your 'elearning' credits with them (which is a bonus) and it's a fully content managed system which makes it easy for anyone in the school to update the website.

My school went from some crappy frame based site to the EduJoomla site which looked like very pro.

The edugeek joomla package is great if you've got free/lost cost hosting and don't mind having a reasonable standard site.

 

If you want a lot of customisation, then be prepared for a lot of time/work.

 

If you haven't got time and effort then pay out money to one of the many school website hosting /designing people (on average about £700 to set up - £150/year maintenance)
