znova Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Hello, Our projector has just gone in a puff of smoke so I am looking for some advice on replacements. We had a Toshiba TLP-X2000EDU, but it wasn't really suitable -the classroom is very bright with lots of windows and it wasn't powerfull enough to display output on the Smart board. Also, it was overheating. Any advice? From previous experience, pricewise it will be as low as possible - probably max £300. Thanks!
witch Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Thats pretty cheap - we just ordered an NEC NP 200 2100 lumens for about £395. I don't know if it will be bright enough for you. I am very keen on NEC projectors as they seem very forgiving of dust or power surges!
K.C.Leblanc Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 The Tosh T95 will probably drop straight in (I think it's 2200 lumens).
znova Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 The reason it has to be cheap is because we are getting a new built school Sep 2010 with all in, so they don't want to invest in something that will only be used 18 months max - watch this space for used IWBs etc. Will probably have to order tomorrow before the Easter hols so any more suggestions welcome. Also, do you have a prefferred supplier?
mossj Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 jsut a quick tip (you might already know) but turning on High Altitude mode (its on most of the projectors i've seen) sorts out overheating some of the time (but makes the fan go like the clappers)
znova Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 Unfortunatelly that's what I tried to do when the projector started cutting out! The fan was marginally noisier and I thought SORTED - well for a while at least! That is until the bulb exploded on Monday I might actually root through the various cupboards and see what goodies there are - I faintly remember seeing a projector...
znova Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 I did find a projector this morning! However, I discovered that it was put away because the lamp got dimmer and dimmer - so it needs replacement lamp at around £350... Back to the drawing board.
znova Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 I like the look of the Epson EMP-X52 or BenQ CP220c. Any experience using these? The headmistress is in this morning and it is just as I suspected - as cheap as possible, make it last till next September. Any good suppliers? We are in north Derbyshire.
