What operating systems do schools use.

Other than having the pain of teachers having to bugger about to create PC resources (Virtual PC would help ... but not much) it would be quite nice.

 

Then again ... you could eliminate a lot of user stupidity by giving the staff Macs.

@StuartC: Citrix would help there too - Citrix clients are available for Mac and Windows so you could just fire off a connection to a server and have a common desktop/apps. You could, in theory, even run that old 16-bit piece of educational software from 20 years ago (which is still vital to the curriculum) on your brand spanking OS X machines!

Interesting you seem to know so much Citrix config - I had a hell of a job getting into it as a newbie - and the guys that installed it had it no-where as neat as you have it! We have XPe too.

 

I used XPe on some of my clients at the last place I worked - it kinda sucked but I think that it was partly the way it was implemented on the Compaq thin clients (Smartmedia based storage aint the fastest to boot from!). However, it did have that nifty disk protector thing so I was able to just tell the staff to turn the things off and on if the settings got scrubbed - hence I didn't lock them down properly
