Can't access Profiles on Server

Hi,

 

When I delete user profiles on the server, the profiles will recreate when a user logs in. However, inorder to click into the new profile folder for a particular user, I am forced to take ownership as a domain administrator for that profile folder.

 

This is inspite of the fact that for the profiles, the domain administrator already has full permissions on the parent 'profiles$' folder and the user profile folder.

 

Any ideas??

On the profiles$ share > Security > Advanced, tick - Replace permission entries on all child objects... then Apply.

 

The way I get around this is to create a default profile, make a copy of it, then rename it as appropriate when creating their new account. For pupils I use a mandatory profile, so this isn't a problem when setting up their accounts.

By default Domain Administrators are not granted access to a users roaming profile folder.

 

There is a GPO Setting that grants Domain Administrators access. The setting can be found in Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > User Profiles, the setting is called Add the Administrators security group to roaming user profiles.

 

Think it should do the trick.

Agreed with above solution - thats what I use, but if you need to gain access quickly then add your username as a permission on the folder and it should work! That's what I used to do before I found the GPO setting!! lol.

I have this issue with Vista profiles, a bit of a pain i am going to try that GPO option.
