VGA Splitter & VGA/Audio Swither?

I am looking for something that to be honest i'm not too sure exists... Can i get some advice on it anyway and if any of you have a solution.

 

Looking to connect up a fixed workstation with video/audio to a projector with speakers but want a splitter so i'm able to allow members of staff to connect themselves up to the splitter and with a push of a button it switches to the laptop outputs and vice-versa.

Totally doable, just can't think of brands of good kit to do it, I'm sure someone will come along shortly with some real world experience on it.

All of our speaker amps have multiple inputs.

 

If the projector has 2 vga inputs then you run 2 cables to it.

 

All you then need to do is switch the input on the projector with the remote and switch the input on the amp.

thats not an ideal solution though, we've got audio and video cabling in place from projector and speakers, we just want something that sits inbetween the speakers/projector and pc/laptop so it can be done with one simple button

We're not actualy using it (it was supplied by mistake), but we have an 'Aten Video Matrix VS-0202'.

KVM's usually seem to bicker if you want to just use them as AV switchers with no keyboard/mouse attached. Some refuse to pick up until mouse/keyboard is connected, especially if they're drawing power from the PS2 ports.

 

SDC's suggestion seems to be exactly what you described as needing - it would sit in your diagram in the centre and a cable left trailing from it would allow any staff laptop to be plugged into the second set of ports...

I'm trying to do the exact same thing - nice new motorised drop-down screen in our drama studio, we want a PC on the lighting balcony to be able to send a VGA signal to it, but we also want a point in the main hall where people can plug laptops in. I was rather thinking one of these might do the job:

 

2-Port VGA Switch > Maplin

 

No "push button" VGA signal selection, it simply selects whichever VGA signal is on, although you can select which one you would prefer if both signals are on. For mirroring the VGA signal to a monitor I'm simply using a VGA Y-cable, about £5, and for audio a stereo Y-cable, about £2.

looks like the matrix switcher we use but I didtn know you can get them with audio - good find!
