garethEds Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, I have an MSI which I need to get a transform file for. The transform file will hold the serial number information in the form of a registry key. Does anyone have instructions or links to website where I can teach myself how to do this? Many thanks Gareth Edmondson
k-strider Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 you can use something called Install Tailor to make MSTs it takes you through the MSI instalation and captures your answers and makes the MST. I have one of the last free vers if you cant find it let me know. Gordon. 1
BBrian Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Does anyone have instructions or links to website where I can teach myself how to do this? I had a bit typed out myself, but this seems to cover it: creating MST files and adding registry keys The appdeploy website is your first port of call when playing with MSIs. Subscribe to the forums' RSS feed if you want to get deep into it. I've never been able to find any decent video tutorials on the subject. 1
AliG Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 You can also use ORCA to make a transform file. Google it. 1
FatBoy Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 You can also use ORCA to make a transform file. Google it. I have used ORCA before to do the transform file for ActivStudio 3 - ACTIVstudio Professional 3.0.73 Guide Obviously its not exactly what your doing but the basic steps in this post helped me do my first MST 1
K.C.Leblanc Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Are there any user guides for Orca anywhere? I've looked at it be it seems to have a near verticle learning curve. As for Install Taylor, that's a really handy piece of software.
