I've installed the VMWare server onto a windows 2008 64bit machine. using the convertor I've got the virtual image of one of my existing servers however now that it's up and running the base system device and the AMD PCNET family PCI ethernet adapter show up with exclamation marks how do I sort this out guys?

Wes you will have to install Vmware tools on the machine, when me and phill used vmware 2 we had the same problem and installed the tools and it solved all them problems

Firstly how do you check which version you are on? Secondly I thought I had installed them via the VMware Console? I'll attached a screen shot ASAP.

Click on the VM and on the right hand side it says hardware version.

and if you have used vmware converter then it is normally an option to be installed when you convert it.

Screenie would be nice.

James.

EDIT: Also on the right hand side, above hardware version it also tells you if vmware tools is running. :)

Yeah sadly more than once. It's not affecting anything else and Citrix is running fine so thats proof of concept right there. Now to look at bringing down the original and using that as well.
