Departmental Web Pages in Moodle

Within our Moodle, which is provided by the LEA I am looking at creating a departmental page. Somewhere where I can put departmental news.

 

Is this possible?

 

At the moment, on the left side of the page (Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr Moodle) there is a list of courses. When you click ICT it then takes you to a list of Year groups. When you click on the year group it then takes you to the courses relevant to that year group.

 

What I want is when you click on ICT it comes up with a departmental page which contains the list of year groups - pupils can the move on from there.

 

I know I can add news to individual courses - but this is a small gap in my knowledge that hopefully someone can help with.

could you not do a workaround and have a course 'ICT news' - using the metacourse method to get everyone in the other ICT courses automatically enrolled on it -then you could post news etc to that for everyone to access? I take your point about a first port of call/departmental web page though.

Haven't got my self-training into metacourses yet. It is on the list :-)

dead easy though; click of a button - then you have a 'communal' course where you can add news and communal resources etc.
