alandickey41 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) I would be interested to hear from anyone who has moved to a new MIS system (SIMS, Serco, PASS) from any other application. What was the other MIS you used, what were its failings and and what have you found when moving to the new System? Many thanks. Edited March 5, 2009 by vikpaw Combined Similar Posts
csrimmer Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 We moved to CMIS at Framlingham relatively recently and found the transition to be a smooth one and I personally find their support to effective. They are also pretty good at remoting in to sort our any problems related to reports and or system set up. However, whatever the system, it is really important to have your own house in order, to know what information you need to get out, what assessment model is needed etc etc. Finally, a defeinite plus for CMIS are the user defined fields which allow more tweaking than a lot of other systems permit.
penfold_99 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 i would agree with most of what csrimmer is saying. The biggest issue you will have is training, you need to have a lot of training sessions booked to help staff. When are you looking at moving? if it is for September good look, we moved from cmis to sims.net the whole process was a head ache as the time frame was small. the biggest and most information thing is what to do with the old system, are you going to move all the historical data over? you will still need to keep your old system going for information requests as you wont be able to move over student that have left.
