Keyboard not working

Ok i updated an image yesterday then ghosted a room of machines last night.

This morning none of the keyboards work (usb)

have tried ps/2 keyboards

have tried going into bios (that works fine with keyboard)

tried bboting to safe mode (no keyboard)

tried to do a repair (machines are dell presion 690 with sas drives) so does not find drives

tried erd same as above

so before i spend hours finding sas drivers so i can press f6 and do a repair anyone got any ideas

I've had this problem in the past with Dell's. You have to make sure the keyboard and mouse are plugged into the same USB ports on every machine, or identical to the machine you took the image from. Why the drivers cannot behave like memory sticks I am not sure, as I would of thought the drivers would be signed?

 

You should (in theory) be able to Remote Desktop in to verify this.

They are all in same usb ports

strange thing isw i can reote to machine i took image from not any others

cant ping others

have tried restarting them lots but nothing

If you turn the system you imaged from off, can you connect to another system? I presume you ran Sysprep and gave each machine a unique name on the network?

We use the ghost console and it does all the renaming stuff without us using sysprep.

 

On the one i created image on i can remote desktop and found

 

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

 

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

In the Registry Editor window, click the "Edit" menu, then "Find."

4 In the Find what: box, type kbdclass and click Find Now

5 After searching, the editor will highlight the first selected registry key containing "kbdclass". If the selected item's name is not "UpperFilters" press the key. Repeat this step until "UpperFilters" is selected.

6 When UpperFilters is selected, double click it to display the Edit Multi-String window.

7 In the textbox, delete any lines that do not say "kbdclass" then click OK
