Chrispy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 In a school of 90 pupils with 20 staff we have managed to go through 800 euro of toner and 50,000 pages since February, and that's only on 1 printer!!! How do I go about limiting the number of pages that people can print? I'm thinking 50 pages per month for staff and 20 for pupils. Chris

I need to look into something to help with printing, currently use the Viglen Print Quota, but this doesnt work with all printers as it depends on the printer drivers

Ask the teacher how many pages he/she expects per pupil and calculate how many sheets this will be in total Say it's a class of 30 and they should be printing 3 pages each. Put 90 sheets in the printer and if it runs out, tough. OK - I'll get my coat!

Rather than limiting the kids printing to so many sheets per week etc., like most of the software solutions seem to offer, I, in an ideal world, would like to bill the department for which the kid is printing. Not necessarily homework, but certainly while in that lesson. If they're using machines within the dept., then that's easy - obviously - but how about in the ICT suites which are booked by every man and his dog - and sometimes they don;t even book - they just turn up. Does anyone have any ideas for solutions to this? Andy

From their website... "The program can also inspect sizes of print jobs based on defined quotas and prohibit printing, if the quotas are exceeded (cost recovery and audit print). Quotas for printing is very powerful and effective mechanism for cost management on printing in your organization." I'll download the evaluation version and give it a whirl. Chris
