FITS V1.5

Thought you may be interested to know sometime in April BECTA are going to release a new version of FITS (1.5) with plans already under way for version 2 .

A few of the things coming are..

 

• It will have some new modules.
  
• A slim lining of the implementation process as one of things at moment it can seem overly complicated.
  
• A new push to get schools & LA to take it on board
  
• A push both to technical staff as well as heads & SLTS
  

 

As said these are just a few things coming and going to big drive in marketing FITS.

This is something I have been looking at for a while and was hoping to start next term. Is their any scope in starting using the old framework then moving across to the new 1.5 or does a lot of the modules not overlap?

Not seen new version yet but old one is fine to start using Version 1.0 (current one) as the new modules cover extra stuff not in original FITS.

I've been looking at FITS for over a year now and really wanted the department to implement it. Now im the manager of the department and with the task of getting the department ready to successfully manage 1.6million worth of investment in IT next year and just starting the process im glad that its all getting updated just before we embark on the jouney!
