Exporting a mailbox using exmerge

I need to export a mailbox using exmerge and then burn the pst file to a cd or something how do i do this.

run exmerge and basically follow the prompts in the GUI; have you tried that and got stuck?

 

Exmerge can be pretty complex (especially if you use the command line options) but the GUI should be straightforward.

 

One point; if you burn the PST to a CD I think Outlook will fail to open it - it needs r/w access. If all you're doing is archiving then that's no problem but when you come to use it and just drag it onto the C: drive, remember to set it read/write or it won't work.

I get an error message saying it has failed I think its due to the fact that I havent got the right privillages even thou I am logged on as the administrator and running the exmerge.

At some point Exchange stopped adding the administrator's group to users' mailboxes by default, which causes this error (I don't remember which version it was in, Ex2007 and 2003 on SBS I think). Add yourself to each mailbox you want to backup first.
