tech_guy Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) Tried that - you get "You're only able to forward mail to a custom domain or an e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, or live.com. Please try again". It looks like MS will not let you forward Hotmail email to a @gmail.com account. The user wants to use the spamfilter in Gmail to purge the cr@p they are getting in their Hotmail account. Edited February 13, 2009 by tech_guy
Ric_ Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I seem to remember that I couldn't even forward to my own domain name from Hotmail... it had to be a Hotmail domain. Although there may have been an option to pay for the priviledge. Why wouldn't the luser want to just use Gmail?

Because it looks so professional having a Hotmail address on a business card! You could of course use Outlook to pull the messages from Hotmail and then auotmatically forward them to Gmail. Of course anyone who uses a Hotmail address on a business card, probably has a cobbled together web site with their email address in plain text... hence the huge amount of spam that they are getting.

This is a woman who has a business with a £14m a year turnover so I guess she isn't very professional or successful...
tumbleweed Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Gmail has a 'Get mail from other accounts' option which will use pop3 access to read mail from elsewhere - might be an option ?
