matttch Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Is anyone available to give me a quick walk through on how to instal and get working? Ive installed the MSI on my server. but can not find the GPO or the inf to add it. Help Please.
mac_shinobi Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 if you go to group policys on the server ( going from memory here so could be wrong ) if you go to the computer configuration there should be an msi installation section. Better if you do this per OU so that its only specific computers that you want it installing on otherwise every machine will get it.
witch Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I think silver asked the same question this morning - I don't think hardly anyone helped him either. I am not competent enough to tell someone else how to do it although I could probably stagger through it myself - but some of you are far better than me - how's about some help for the less able - or at least some pointers as to where to look. This article helped me: How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2003
powdarrmonkey Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Ok, flying visit (I'm madly busy). Missed this thread when you first posted it, sorry. Make sure when installing on the server that you picked a custom installation and added the group policy templates to the selection. (I recommend you don't install the agent on the server, but that's up to you.) Then create a new GPO, right click on Administrative Templates and click Add/Remove Templates, and add the Shutdownertron.adm template from the default location. When the policy editor reloads you should see its options in Administrative Templates. I plan to have long-overdue documentation finished this week :-)
