MOSS2007 - SProfile and Import Settings - import profiles has hung

Whilst doing an incremental profile import MOSS shared services has hung and will not let me click Stop import

 

Any ideas please?

 

It has been running for a couple of weeks now =0(

 

Have tried restarting server, iis and still no joy.

 

Any ideas people??

Since I don't know too much about profile imports I don't know if this'll help or not, but generally with any Sharepoint operation that's hung I find it useful to check the SPAdmin service (Windows Sharepoint Admin service) is running.

 

Restarting the same service may also help. Failing that, running stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs forces any jobs waiting for the timer to run immediately.

Nah thats not working, am gonna get rid of the connection information - nope that wont let me either as it is being used :confused:

Other things you could try:

 

stsadm -o Peoplepicker-getsiteuseraccountdirectorypath -url to ensure that its looking at the right path.

 

stsadm -o Enumssptimerjobs -title to let you know what its actually trying to run, without bothering with that GUI stuff.

 

stsadm -o Listlogginglevels - showhidden might help find out what's happening.

 

I've been looking around and the standard Microsoft fix appears to be to recreate the shared services. How much do you have in the existing setup, and could you afford to start over?

 

If not could you perform a backup of the sites in there, leaving out the security and user profiles, and re-import that into a new Shared Service?

Restarting isn't really an option, this is a system being used by 5000 users per day, sites go about 5 levels deep with approx 100 subsites each with their own security settings and workflows, haven't seen something like this before and it is doing my head in.

Just as a last thought, you might be able to kill the job with stsadm -o deletessptimerjob.

 

I often find that even when the GUI doesn't work, stsadm will get them done.
