Now I have my shiny new laptop it only came with a 250GB 5400rpm drive. With a budget of £100 what HD would you get if you were after a new drive. Big and fast please :)

How about a 320GB 7200-RPM £90.00+vat Free Delivery!

320gb/7200rpm is about as big and fast as you can get unless you spend more on a Western Digital 2.5"/300gb raptor (250ish?) or go for a 500gb/5400 Western Digital Scorpio or Samsung (90-100).

I've got 2 of the Samsung units. First one died within hours of unboxing it, but the replacement and second unit have been fine ever since, running backups off 50gig files.

Only other point is to make sure you buy a drive that actually fits your laptop. Fujitsu make a 500gb one but it's a 12mm unit rather than 9.5 - watch out!

Isn't that just the desktop drive without the headsink, I could imagine that getting a bit warm.
