googlemad Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Finally.. Access your computers from anywhere. £6.99 later and I was RDPing to my home server in the middle of nowhere on a train. A novelty if nothing else!
Guest Guest Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Trust apple to charge for something which is free on every other platform
tmcd35 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Erm, RDP Lite is available for free from the App store. Works a treat. Got it on my iPhone, along with VNC Lite and MTelnet!
webman Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Erm, RDP Lite is available for free from the App store. Works a treat. Got it on my iPhone, along with VNC Lite and MTelnet! Ahh. But is your free version as shiny as the £6.99 version? It's all in the shinyness...
tmcd35 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Drat! I want shiny! Looks like I'm going to have to pay £6.99 for shiny It's a shame because the free app does everything I need an RDP client to do - It's just not shiny
broc Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 What's an iphone? I don't know, but I want one Or should I say whenever I look at buying any other phone I keep coming back to the iphone..... Maybe I should buy an ipod touch and an 'ordinary' phone?
DevilsAdvocate Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Mine should be waiting for me when I get home
Jamo Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I don't know, but I want one Or should I say whenever I look at buying any other phone I keep coming back to the iphone..... Maybe I should buy an ipod touch and an 'ordinary' phone? I just got the HTC Touch HD, its waiting for me at home, ive heard its shiny and its not made by the fruit people either
somabc Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I got the free mocha rdp lite, only 256 colours and no scaling. Does the paid for version have screen scaling? Skype is out in the App store today as well.
tech_guy Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Go buy a G1 - far superior to the iphone and you won't look like a sad plonker when you get it out on the train....
TechMonkey Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I think I'd rather pay more and get the logmein iphone app
PEO Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 buying an iphone tonight, and unlocking it so I can put my 'Three' sim card in
Domino Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Go buy a G1 - far superior to the iphone and you won't look like a sad plonker when you get it out on the train.... feel like a giant hunk of plastic though, and UI's not as polished. and the web browsers crap. but apart from that you're totally right
tmcd35 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 buying an iphone tonight, and unlocking it so I can put my 'Three' sim card in probably pretty obvious - but make sure it's a new(er) 3G iPhone. I recently upgraded to a new 3G iPhone on an O2 contract. I gave my old 'jailbroken' 2.5G iPhone, which I used with my old Vodafone contract, to my brother and his 'Three' sim card did not work with the phone. 1

SC-UK Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 probably pretty obvious - but make sure it's a new(er) 3G iPhone. I recently upgraded to a new 3G iPhone on an O2 contract. I gave my old 'jailbroken' 2.5G iPhone, which I used with my old Vodafone contract, to my brother and his 'Three' sim card did not work with the phone. Further to this - if it is brand new and the firmware has already been upgraded to 2.2.1 then unlocking is not going to happen. You can jailbreak it but not unlock it to accept other sims. With this firmware upgrade the baseband of the phone itself is also irreversibly upgraded - just a word of warning :-)

O2 shop has put it aside for me.. thank you for the heads up

With this firmware upgrade the baseband of the phone itself is also irreversibly upgraded - just a word of warning :-) Works with all iPhones, right up to the latest version Our software unlocking solution will unlock any iPhone, regardless to weather it's brand new and just come out of the box, if it's been unlocked before and now it's bricked, even if you have accidently upgraded your iPhone - our software can fix it. We have had a 100% Success rate with iPhones of all versions, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 2.0, 2.1 and the latest v2.2 Unlock iPhone 3G - Unlock Your iPhone To ANY Network! shouldn't be long before its hacked again by the looks of it
tmcd35 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Erm, Dev-Team Blog The software is free and pretty easy to use. Looks like even the new 3.0 is Jailbreakable. Maybe issues, as SC-UK, points out with unlocking the network though. Also, PEO's link to a 'pay us £17 for free software'!?! site only mentions upto version 2.2. So there maybe issues with firmware 2.2.1 and unlocking the phone.
PEO Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 there are reports that 2.2.1 has been broken but its alot trikier for 3g enabled phones
DrCheese Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You buying it on pay and go? I'm seriously considering it as I hate my N95 (Great Camera but not much else) now, but I'm still under contract. Very expensive tho

Very expensive tho I like my N95, its camera is great and after installing a couple of apps i think its great.
