My Head Teacher has a new 02 MDA IV mobile phone. This replaced an older model. On connecting to PC all synced without any problem. Great!

He then wanted to download some music tracks to it, thats when the problems started. To do this the PC needed WMP 11 installed. PC was running win 2000. So needed to upgrade his PC to XP to install WMP11. After upgrading the blooming thing won't sync (using MS outlook 2003). On checking the Device Manager it showed the exclamation mark, and is missing the driver (did throw up the windows message, that it might not work on finding the new device), should I reinstall active sync. Any suggestions greatly received.

I would remove the driver and reinstall it. Also make sure there are no hidden devices as well by going to the appropriate menu show hidden. Cant remember exactly I'm on Ubuntu at home. Clean install is usually the best vs upgrade though.

You need to install Activesync as the drivers to interface with the phone are installed with it. Put the latest version of activesync on as the later versions are a bit more robust in my experience.
