Jose Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 hello I need help and advice on using Karoshi to install a squid server, We have a very well setup 2003 domain that we are very happy with so we don't want to change our domain management setup. We use the lea's internet service and they provide and support a websense internet filter, We are very happy with the service and think it good. A new bursar has ordered that we as a school allow access to Youtube and Facebook. We can get the lea to unblock these sites but it will be unblocked for the whole school, we would like to be able to block these sites from all the rooms but 4. So if any one has any help at settingup Karoshi as justa squid/dans guardian then please help ta

ahuxham Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Bursars can be applied to Business Managers, therefore have some control, say in the running of services in the school. On a side not, Karoshi can be used, however you can also blanket block the two sites with an ACL within squid.conf, than define an ACL to allow certain machines to access the sites. This is easily done, and I'll even add more hints. Text file with youtube and facebook, ACL denying said text file, than ACL using ARP to allow access. ARP requires a text file, just jot down all the MAC address for the machines in the four rooms, and allow access to those only, thus, no machine apart from ARP allowed will have access. Squid website has documentation and googling Squid ARP ACL will provide adequate answers. Hope that helps and may be an alternate solution for you. 1
