Linux on the Windows version of the HP 2133

Anyone managed to get their 2133 set up and dual booting but with the VGA working nicely on the Linux side? Really struggling at the moment. Bought the Vista/XP version, would like a nice light distro eg. Puppy/DSL on there ideally but just playing with Xubuntu at the moment - best result I can get is being stuck in 640x480 VGA, worst result no screen at all.

Thought I'd be able to just download the custom version of Suse (think that's what they're based on?) from the HP website but it seems like they don't provide a recovery CD download. If you bought yours with Linux on, did it ship with a recovery disk for an actual from CD/DVD reinstall of the distro?

Pretty sure the screen on them ended up being 1024x600 (or even 768?) - doesn't go up that high in the XP install anyway... I've googled up plenty of tips, even found people who have it working and "just change this..." like the modeline but so far no joy, nothing is too happy with the Via/Unichrome chipset. Stuck in Vesa/VGA res atm.
