Problems setting folder permissions in GP

I am trying to configure file permissions on a folder (Granada Database) for students using the 'Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, File System' setting in Group Policy on Windows Server 2003, but without success.

 

I have set the path as %SystemDrive%\Toolkit\Granada Database, with 'Configure this file or folder then Propagate inheritable permissions to all subfolders and files' ticked. I have also added the necessary security group.

 

Having run gpupdate I am still having no joy getting this to work.

 

Can anyone please offer any pointers as to what I am missing or what to try next.

Hmmm, as far as I can tell that should work just fine

 

Have you done a 'Resultant Set of Policy' Report to see if the policy is being applied?

No I hadn't, that's a new one to me...but I have now, and when I drill down to the File System setting nothing appears. All other policies appear to be working properly so do you know what else I can try?

Does that part of GP actually even work? Ive never seen it work myself and have always used CACLS.exe to set permissions.
