One way voice using VOIP over a bridge

Hi, I have a couple of remote buildings connected using a 1300 series Cisco Bridge (Root) and 1230 Cisco AP (Non Root). The Bridge is connected back to a Cisco 3560 PoE switch the same as our PBX a Toshiba Strata system. When ever I connect a VOIP phone to the access point I can only get voice one way, I can hear people I call in the main building but they can not hear me.

If I plug the same phone directly into the switch I get two-way voice once I have enabled the correct smart port. I have enabled QoS on both the AP and Bridge for voice and still only one way changing the Bridge port settings to phone on the swicth makes no difference.

 

Any thoughts anyone.

(Assumption: SIP)

Remember only "control" goes over port 5060, the rest of it is random high ports - so you will need to be able to make connections both ways on "any old high port".

 

There's no NAT or anything between these devices? Same net?

sorry to re-direct a little but how well does the strata system work? We have been looking at this system. How much is the system to install?

 

I have installed Asterisk and have managed to get a connection from a piece of software. At the moment just seeing if it is a viable solution for our school.

 

As for the issue was it working before or is this something that you are just implementing. I have read that wifi connections for VoIP can be a bit flakey due to either lack of bandwidth (distance perhaps could affect this) or interference.

Check the link above i've posted about our telephone system before. We've had no problems with it and it's been in for about 9 months. I think the one-way voice can be solved with a setting on the access points but haven't found it yet.

 

I would recommend the phones, a doddle to use, setup and pretty cheap as well. The four secondary schools in our area all use the Tosh fitted by the same company and no complaints from anyone. Comms UK in Bournemouth/Poole are the company that supplied us.
