Need to buy a laptop!?

Right it's that time of the year and i'm looking to buy myself a laptop. Ideally I'd want something which i can use in the office on a domain while i work (Either XP pro or vista ultimate) I would also need it for when i travel to LAN events for my gaming addiction. I tend to play games using the half life 2 engine so i need something with a bit of power which isn't going to lag like a bitch.

 

Looking to spend £500.00 tops if i can.

 

 

Alienwares are a little out of my budget considering i have a pc at home for my usual gaming.

Hi ... To run half life 2 you will need a dedicated GPU rather than the shared variety.. I have a laptop and it runs OK with an Nvidia 7800gtx. The cpu is a Centrino 1.8ghz. and 1 meg of ram. I've tried to run Crysis and its struggling a bit though!!

Stretch your budget a little and buy a Samsung R700. I love mine

 

It's all the more better because I didn't pay for it too!

Back onto the subject of laptops. Where can i see the spec of one of these R700 and i would like my own dedicated graphics. maybe an 8 series geforce

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - 128 MB

If it's going to be used for work, you could always call up you suppliers and ask for a demo or three, which will give you a chance to decide what spec you need, or how comfortable the keyboard is (which is important for gaming). I've always found that they're happy to lend them for a few weeks (especially if they think that I might buy 40 of them).
