PEO Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 shame its not 64bit edition you need a 1TB drive just to install it lol... good find
acrobson Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 Tell me about it, I have tried Vista, but sticking with XP until windows 7.
vikpaw Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Cracking deal. Always used eBuyer in the past and their prices are awesome. Have noticed recently though that due to massive price cuts across the high street on some things they aren't always the cheapest as in the past. This deal looks awesome, though just bear in mind to be totally legit, you have to be a system builder to buy and legally use the license. It's not a standard retail box. Usually they used to get around the OEM licensing issue by stipulating you should make the purchase along side some hardware, however, they would accept a £1 mouse to satisfy that condition. They never really actually checked on the OEM status. It is easy enough to register with Microsoft as an OEM, my last school did so, as we built our own bullet proof PCs (down to the sheet metal case with no openings!). Just thought i'd point out that little legal foible in case it's an issue for anyone. Also, while you're at it, get yourself a lucky bag for a fiver quickfind code: 155017 - it's much the same ilk as the bag 'o crap from bigpockets and similar from firebox. just a pot luck handful of items that you can't return if you don't like.
ICT_GUY Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 OEM = OK if sold with a Hard Disk. This is the minimum MS will accept.
vikpaw Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 OEM = OK if sold with a Hard Disk. This is the minimum MS will accept. but don't you technically still need to be registered as an OEM? plus they aren't actually selling the HD. . .
OutToLunch Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Or for the same price, I could have 2 1TB HDs and no Vista. I think I know which the better deal is 1
vikpaw Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Or for the same price, I could have 2 1TB HDs and no Vista. I think I know which the better deal is I concur!!!
SimpleSi Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Or for the same price, I could have 2 1TB HDs and no Vista. Should win post of the month award regards Simon
acrobson Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 I concur!!! I concur also, but don't shoot the messenger!
PeterW Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 but don't you technically still need to be registered as an OEM? plus they aren't actually selling the HD. . . They relaxed the system builder licence agreement when they released Vista, now pretty much anyh end user can be classed as a system builder you don't have to be registered as an OEM.
acrobson Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 I remember eBuyer releasing a statement at the start of last year stating that you dont have to buy any components etc to qualify for OEM software, you'll see if you try to buy an OEM product and put it in the basket, it didn't used to let you and come up with a warning/error message.
vikpaw Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Should win post of the month award Great idea!! I might post that in the improvements section.
