Toshiba AC Adapter

I have a Toshiba (Equium M70-337 Model number: psm77e-00L00mAV) 15 inch screen. The AC adapter cable is lose hence it has to be in certain angle to supply power or it disconnects.

The AC adapter specification is:

Input 100-240V ~ 1.5aoutput 19V 3.42A

I have a spare one but with slightly different specification:

Input 100-240V ~ 1.3a

output 19V 3.95A

I was wondering if it is safe to use it with my laptop. Please let me know and educate me on these voltage complexities if possible please.

The output voltages are identical, and that's the most important factor. The only difference is the current supplied. Your spare is capable of supplying a slightly higher current than the original. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this will be an issue. If the laptop can't use that much power it simply won't draw it.

and what I can remember of physics class do suggest that you should be fine with that. Most electrical systems have a bit of a margin around their posted spec anyway, the charging control circutry in the laptop should level it out to the required amount without to much hassle.

Should be fine, as AngryTechnician pointed out, it will regulate the ampage down.
