Dafty Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 We have got a set group of Year 11 students that have individual roaming profiles. Since some changes we want to clear out these profiles. Does anyone use software to do this or just a manual job!? Thanks
danrhodes Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Just Rename then Name.old the profile should then re-create. D
BatchFile Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The big issue here is where their work is saved. If it's not in the profile (eg. if you have "my documents" mapped to a network drive) then just move them, as in rename the folder that holds the roaming profile and create a new one with the original name. everyone will then get a shiny new one when they next log in and you can keep their old profiles hanging around for a while, just in case anyone squeels. If there is work in there, then it's a bit more of a problem and a manual clean out may be needed
Dafty Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Just Rename then Name.old the profile should then re-create. D No work is stored on the profile. Mainly app data and settings. As in the server should see no folder ad recreate one? This is how it worked at my last site but not here!
danrhodes Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Yea as in the server should realise that the Profile folder no longer exists and should re-create a new one for the user. Otherwise you will be forced to rename the folder then create a new one and set perms on the folder manully. Delprof will only delete the local profiles from workstations, I think that Dafty means to clear the profile from off the server. A dear Roaming profiles for students is such a bad idea!! I'll attach a copy.Profilefolderdeletion.zip
jcollings Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 delprof.exe Doesn't that only look in c:\documents and settings? Our profiles for students are in a share elsewhere.
danrhodes Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Id try JCollings Idea sound like a good one! D
