Laptop not detecting all wireless access points

Ive got a Toshiba Satellite L30-11D which has a Atheros AR5005G wireless adapter. The problem im having is that it is not picking up all wireless points.

 

Im currently sitting in the same room as a wireless point but it is connecting to one in another room about 10 meters away and on the toshiba wireless LAN radar tool it is not even seeing the one in the office im currently in.

 

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the driver which hasn't solved it and also checked the setting on the 2 wireless points but there is nothing different.

 

Any one got any ideas why this is happening?

i know its not ideal but could you turn the ap off in the other room and see if it will connect to the one closest to you? if it still doesnt connect to the one in the off there may be a problem with that ap.

It is also not connecting to one in another building and in our office it should be picking up about 4 other APs so i don't think it the points.

I guess all the APs are the same are they?

 

Is it possible that the APs its not seeing are all the same brand / type?

The APs thatit is seeing is the same as the other ones it is not, ive compared the settings on the AP's and there is no obvious difference!

What channels are the APs that are not being seen on, if they are on a channel higher than 11 (europe only) then the cards in the laptops may not be able to connect to them due to US drivers and firmware (only go up to 11).
