SIMS.net, Quickletter and terminal services

We have an issue with our terminal server and quickletter in SIMS.net.

 

This issue is a simple one - when one user is writing a quick letter, no other user can. The process locks the quickletter file and doesn't unlock until the letter is finished and closed.

 

Now, is there anything I can do to combat this? Or should I be logging a request with our SIMS team?

Can you change the location of the quickletter template? If you can, include it in a roaming profile (if you using them)?

How would I do this? I'm pretty sure it is hardcoded to be read from the SIMS.net directory?

Someone on the LEA forum posted something about this: CR: 0902-472084

 

I believe it's only affects mandatory profiles, tho I can't be sure, nor can I check.

Finally I have an answer - sorry for the delay.

 

For the March release we are moving the temporary Quickletter.doc to the location to better enable it for hosted environments.

As currently I see the template in the program files. So are you saying we can add to where ever the users my sims documents are kept in which case for us is n:\My Sims Documents

I was emailed this on the 7th of September regarding the August release SIMS .net 7.122:

Personalising the Quick Letter Template

You can now personalise the Quick Letter template without affecting the templates of other SIMS users. The ability to have local copies of the quick letter templates should enable Terminal Server / Citrix installations to share the SIMS .net installation folder for all the schools on the server, saving much time and effort during upgrades to SIMS. Server administrators may wish to deploy appropriate copies of a school template to the My SIMS Documents folder for each user in a given school to enable this new facility.
